Robotics: The sweet spot of STEM

Ask a 6th grader what they want to be when they grow up, and not many will answer a scientist or an engineer. And that's a challenge since 80% of jobs in the next decade will require math and science skills. 

The AUVSI Foundation’s RoboNation provides students with the opportunity to advance their science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills through fun, hands-on robotics activities.

We offer a variety of programs that span K-12 and college to tap into students' interests and skill levels.

We don't view robotics as a hobby. We see robotics as a fun and engaging way to fuel a child's imagination while enhancing their education. We give students a great start to a promising future.

Build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) from a kit. Using low-cost, easily accessible parts, students learn tool safety and technical procedures get hands-on experience with basic marine engineering and ocean science concepts.  SeaPerch is taught as a part of a curriculum developed by MIT. 2

This underwater glider is a non-tethered, autonomous robot that has no propeller and uses minimal energy. SeaGlide built from a kit and introduces students to programming, coding, real-world sensing and data collection.

AUVSI’s XPONENTIAL is the largest and most influential event in the world dedicated to unmanned systems, drones and intelligent robotics. Serving as the intersection for commercial and defense applications and advancing all domains, it’s one of the best opportunities to learn about the latest and emerging technologies impacting the robotics industry.

Students enjoy the opportunity to tour displays and robotic hardware in AUVSI's XPONENTIAL exhibit hall to learn about careers in the unmanned systems community.
